For my stay, I check into Hotel Zocalo Central. I chose this hotel for its great location in Centro Historico. The rooms are fairly small since this is an older property but it is well maintained and the rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff here is friendly and helpful.
For Lunch, I eat La Hacienda de los Morales. This restaurant is gorgeous from the moment you walk in to the beautiful garden plaza in the center. This classy restaurant has outstanding Mexican cuisine and service to match and I will return. Finally, a lady brings canaries by that do small tricks and deliver a fortune. I hope mine is good!
After lunch, I enjoy a little shopping at Palacio de Hierro Polanco, an upscale department store in Mexico City. The store is beautiful and has a great selection.
I do not have far from the hotel to go to dinner, I simply take the elevator up to El Balcon del Zocalo located in Centro Historico at my hotel. The first thing you notice about this restaurant is the view from this amazing location next to Plaza de la Constitucion or also named Zócalo, the more common local name. The food and drinks here are outstanding and I enjoyed the fresh guacamole that is made right in front of me. For this dinner and my next few stops, I am joined by my good friend Urska.
After dinner and the next day, I enjoy walking in the area. Several streets very lively with one singer performing from a balcony above the street. A crowd gathers and enjoys the performance. I walk past many bars, restaurants, and a garden that displays the art of Salvador Dali, a famous Spanish artist. Next, I continue to The Palacio de Bellas Artes, a prominent cultural center in Mexico City that hosts many prominent events. The building features beautiful architecture that is beautifully illuminated at night. Afterwards, I return and Avenue Cinco de Mayo.
The next day, I head to the airport for my next adventure to Havana with Urska! I am excited to return to Havana and show Urska this fun city.
Cheers! Ines Juranovic
