Singapore is a clean, modern, and amazing multi-cultural city to visit that has so much to offer. There are great accommodations, restaurants and bars, parks, and of course one of my favorite things… shopping.
For this trip, I took Singapore Airlines business class and was not disappointed. There is a reason why this airline has such a great reputation and it proves it time and time again. Both the food and service were great and I had a really great flight. Changi Airport is a breeze to get through and one of the world’s best airports.
One of my favorite hotels is the iconic Marina Bay Sands. This luxury hotel has three towers with an infinity pool spanning the towers. The infinity pool, bars, and restaurants offer breathtaking views of the Singapore skyline from the 57th floor.
I enjoy an amazing sunset and dinner at Lavo, an Italian restaurant located on the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands. Rumor is that the restaurant now turns up the music when the kitchen closes and it becomes a nightclub – if you have visited, let me know how you enjoyed the club. The food is good, the service is outstanding, and the views are unforgettable. After dinner, I enjoy the music at C’est La Vi that is also located on the same level as Lavo. Tonight, the place is lively well into the night and this night was amazing!
The next day, I spend some time at the infinity pool with panoramic views of Singapore – a truly unique experience.
After some relaxation and sun, I go shopping at Marina Bay Sands Shoppes located right across from the hotel. This mall has everything that a girl could ever ask for. Here you can find Gucci, La Perla, Louis Vuitton, and Tiffany & Co., just to name a few. Speaking of Louis Vuitton, their largest brand store in the world, is located here on a “spectacular Crystal Pavilion floating on the waters of Marina Bay” and accessible via an underwater tunnel from the mall. The mall is massive and there is plenty to entertain you when you need a break from shopping.
For the second part of my visit, I stay at the Mandarin Oriental in Singapore. I recommend the spa and ask to stay on the business level where you can have free tasty food and drinks. This is a very relaxing place…
That evening I head to Orchard Road, one of Asia’s most famous shopping streets. However, instead of shopping, I am following up on a restaurant recommendation. I know, I know… shocking that I am not shopping. The restaurant, Jiang-Nan Chun, is located at the Four Seasons Hotel. This restaurant features Cantonese cuisine and I enjoy one of the best meals I have ever had. I never wanted to leave but the restaurant empties out and there is fun to be had!
The next day, I head to one of the largest and best aquariums in the world, S.E.A Aquarium. The aquarium boasts over 100,000 sea creatures and I am not disappointed with the exhibits. One of my favorite exhibits features majestic manta rays. They are so graceful as they glide through the water. Save yourself some time and buy your tickets online before going.
After the sun sets, I enjoy the Spectra Laser Show that takes place in front of the Marina Bay Sands promenade. The show takes place nightly, lasts about 15 minutes, and features colorful lasers and fountains and is set to music. If you are in Singapore, I recommend catching the show from both sides of the bay. I first catch the show from the Marina Bay Sands side. The next night, I see the display from the Lantern Restaurant on the other side of the bay, one of the most gorgeous spots to see the Singapore skyline. The atmosphere, the drinks, the view, and the food are all outstanding. This restaurant is located on the rooftop of the Fullerton Bay Hotel. I always visit this restaurant every time I visit Singapore and highly recommend it.
One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to discover new places. I typically do this by not making plans and going with the flow. This activity requires talking to people and asking about their recommendations and also walking around the cities and places I visit. On this night while walking, I discover the 1919 at the Fullerton Waterboat House where I catch some live music and the night was beautiful and the location was perfect for watching the sunset.
Singapore is one of my favorite places to visit. The city has great food, shopping, hotels, and the parks, views, and sunsets are incredible. This beautiful international city should be on everyone’s bucket list.
