Vienna, the city of music and the former home of Mozart is situated along the Danube River is always a great European city to visit and I go here often.
During this visit, I stay at the Guest House Hotel. This is a smaller but very nice luxury hotel with a great location near the city center. The rooms are very nice and the staff here is very friendly. I enjoy a great breakfast with fresh food here daily before starting each day. For this stay, I stayed in the Duplex Suite with Roof Garden View. This room has two levels with great views of the city and features a cozy living room with window seats. Unlike most hotels, all the items in the mini-bar are included except for alcohol and they even allow you to take one bottle of wine per day! Very cool!!
A fine dining restaurant I highly recommend is Clementine im Glashaus. This restaurant is in a greenhouse setting with a great atmosphere that features gourmet European food and excellent service located at Palais Coburg.
After some shopping, I visit the Sky Café for a break and a little champagne. This is a rooftop bar and restaurant located above the Steffl Department Store in central Vienna. Here you will find a large selection of wine, nice views when the weather cooperates, and excellent service!
Another restaurant that I recommend is Da Capo, an Italian restaurant with a nice atmosphere and reasonable prices. This cozy restaurant is casual and the service here is friendly.
When in Vienna, be sure to visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral. This is a magnificent cathedral that rises dramatically in the old city center that includes a 150-meter tower that has amazing views. One unique feature I love about this church is the multi-colored tiled roof. This seems to be very unique amongst European churches. This church was built in 1160 and is well worth a visit.
The next day, I visited Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer home to the Habsburg Monarchs known for its lavish size, gorgeous gardens, and style. This is the number one tourist attraction in Austria and definitely worth a visit.
For some traditional Austrian cuisine near Schönbrunn Palace, I highly recommend a popular iconic restaurant named Plachuta. Try their world famous and tasty tafelspitz! Tafelspitz is typically boiled beef or veal in broth and is served with a mix of diced apples and horseradish.
On the way back to the hotel near the city center, I stop at M-Lounge for a couple of cocktails. This restaurant & bar features a laid-back atmosphere and innovative tapas sized plates that combine a variety of international flavors.
Vienna is a world class European city that has so much to offer and I enjoy it often with friends.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
